After an extensive five-year facelift, the legendary Hyatt Regency Bali has reopened.
Set amid nine hectares of lush, tropical gardens on Sanur Beach, Hyatt Regency Bali evokes the same sense of awe and admiration in its guests as it did 45 years ago, while maintaining the much-loved Balinese aesthetic of the original.
The lobby has been rebuilt as the original with its rustic thatched alang-alang roof, and opens out to provide improved views of the gardens and Bali Sea. Throughout the hotel, local materials and techniques, such as hammered copper, rattan, bamboo and coconut shell, have been integrated with a modern approach and statues. Batik printing blocks and Balinese wood and stone carvings from Bali Hyatt have been repurposed as wall art and sculptures.
Modern tropical chic
Hyatt Regency Bali offers 363 rooms spanning 27–81 square metres, each featuring a private balcony and cabana overlooking the lush gardens or Bali Sea. A study in modern tropical chic, the rooms feature Balinese touches, from distinctive carved banyan wood or halfsplit bamboo wall panelling to woven rattan panels on doors and furniture.
The hotel’s 39 suites with separate living and dining rooms include access to the Regency Club Lounge offering a private concierge, complimentary breakfast, all-day snacks and evening cocktails and canapés.
Hyatt Regency Bali showcases authentic dining venues, each utilising the freshest and finest ingredients available, local and organic wherever possible.
Omang Omang is the hotel’s all-day dining space offering comfort food from Indonesia and around the world. Alongside views of the gardens and pools, Omang Omang serves a buffet breakfast, resort favourites all day and charcoalgrilled seafood and prime cuts in the evening.
For stunning sea views and sundowners, Pizzaria is hard to beat. This casual drinking and dining venue on Sanur Beach specialises in freshly made pasta, pizza baked in wood-fired ovens, frozen cocktails and Italian sodas muddled with fresh fruit and herbs.
Against a backdrop of gamelan musicians by day and piano accompaniment by night, Piano Lounge is ideal for a quiet drink, casual business meeting or social gathering.
Hyatt Regency Bali offers three sea-facing swimming pools: a main pool surrounded by bounteous overhanging bougainvillea, a lap pool within the spa overlooked by a reclining statue of Ganesh, and a shallow children’s pool where the young ones can swim through a replica of Goa Gajah, the 9th-century ‘elephant cave’ temple near Ubud.
The fitness centre, open 24-hours a day, features walls of floor-to-ceiling glass so guests can enjoy views of the gardens while working out on the latest Precor strength and cardio equipment.
Renew and revitalise
The Shankha Spa features a concise list of treatments inspired by Balinese wellness techniques and incorporating local ingredients, designed to renew and revitalise. The vast complex comprises ten spa villas housing a treatment area, relaxation lounge, shower, changing room, vanity area and private garden with an outdoor whirlpool ideal for watsu (aquatic massage) treatments.
For the little ones, Camp Hyatt Kids Club features an outdoor playground, an indoor playroom filled with toys and games, and a programme designed to both entertain and educate with Balinese arts, crafts and cultural activities.
Uplifting function space
With the event venues at Hyatt Regency Bali, Tierra Design and Spin Design Studio have drawn direct inspiration from wantilan, traditional Balinese community pavilions, to create its compound of event spaces arranged around a central outdoor courtyard. Featuring its own drop-off entryway for streamlined arrivals, the complex comprises five separate gathering spaces with glass walls (unique in the area) to bathe spaces in natural light. The 468-square-metre ballroom features a show kitchen for live culinary theatre and can accommodate up to 600 guests for cocktails, while four additional multifunctional meeting spaces range from 98–324 square-metres and can accommodate 25–150 guests. The 240-square-metre courtyard, available for outdoor events for up to 120 attendees, is ideal for Balinese dance performances.
Located in the heart of Sanur, the hotel is within walking distance to myriad of restaurants, cafés, boutiques and entertainment venues. Sanur is located conveniently close to Bali’s top attractions, allowing guests to enjoy a wide range of activities suited for families, couples or business travellers.
