Travelling across the island takes just a few days and visitors can experience amazing sights with rice paddies, lakes, smoking volcanoes and secluded beaches.
For the adventurously inclined, Flores is the perfect destination. After seeing the komodo dragons and learning about their habitat, dive at one of the numerous dive sites where you can swim with huge manta rays, dolphins and dugongs. Explore the craggy coasts and mangrove shores by kayak or canoe and visit the deep caves.
There are many excellent diving spots in the area and visits to Merah Beach, Batu Bolong and Tatawa islands are highly recommended. The fascinating underwater world around the islands hosts hundreds of species of coral as well as sponges, fish, dolphins, green turtles, sharks and stringrays. A marine reserve has been established in the area although it is largely undocumented and mostly unexplored.
