Palm Groove is located on Viama on the Southern coast of Rarotonga island. Roratonga island is famed for its blue lagoons, pristine white beaches, opportunities for diving, snorkeling, and exquisite Polynesian food. You can find all of these things at the hotel.
The hotel borders a white sand private beach, which leads into a lagoon. At any time of the day, guests can borrow the hotel’s snorkeling equipment and head into the clear water. If you decide to tan yourself, you can do it either in front of the pool or on the beach. At both of these places, the hotel has placed comfortable sun chairs and loungers.
The hotel consists of 26 individual bungalows, spread across five acres of landscaped garden and beachfront. The bungalows are divided into Garden and Beachfront bungalows. These are further divided into Studio bungalows that face the beach, Studio and One bedroom bungalows facing the garden and Two or Three bedroom bungalows in a private setting. All the bungalows are built in traditional Polynesian style.
The rooms contain either two single beds or one king size bed. The beds are super comfortable with matching soft linens and pillows. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioner, flat-screen TV with satellite cable, full-screen window, Mp3/CD player, telephone, fan and your private patio. The rooms are cleaned every day by housekeeping. The bathrooms contain the latest fittings and are built for luxury. There is also a small bathtub in each room with additional shower facility.

The hotel’s in-house open air restaurant – the Yellow Hibiscus serves authentic Polynesian food. But traditional Western food is also on the menu. The hotel has a 40 seater private room for large parties, which provides customized decorations and menus. Entertainment can also be arranged.
The hotel also has a wide selection of international wines, spirits, and liquors. The restaurant’s sunny deck overlooks the ocean and it is a wonderful place to stand and sip a cocktail. On Friday night, the hotel hosts a happy hour, where free drinks and light snacks are provided. Every Sunday, there is a special BBQ set up in the well-manicured garden. There are a number of outdoor activities in the vicinity of the hotel. Rarotonga island is quite small, so all tourist spots are quite close. For example, Tikioki Marine Sanctuary is just 4.7 km away from the hotel. Rarotonga is also known for its diving spots and trekking. The hotel itself is set at the edge of lush green foliage. You can always go snorkeling off the beach in front of the hotel. The clear blue waters of the hotel are home to a number of colorful reef fish including jackets, angel fish, puffer fish, parrot fish and more.

Rarotonga is located just 4 hours from Auckland, New Zealand. There are regular flights from Australia, New Zealand and even the US (direct Sunday Air New Zealand flight from Los Angeles). You will arrive at the Rarotonga International Airport and from there you can catch a cab to the hotel.
If you wish to rent a car or a moped on the island, you have to get a Cook Island drivers’ license. But if you are coming from Australia, US, Canada, New Zealand or the EU, you don’t have to get this license (assuming you have an overseas license). All others have to pay $20 to get the license and undergo a test.
There are a number of good places to visit nearby such as Puaikura beach, Aroa beach, Te Vara Nui Village, Muri Beach and Tikioki Marine Sanctuary. You can also go trekking around the hotel and island. Bring along your reef shoes.
